Research by the Press Institute of Mongolia, MOM’s partner organization, shows that in early 2016 there were a total of 485 media outlets: 101 newspapers, 69 radio stations, 131 TV stations and 98 internet news portals.
MOM investigated the top 12 print outlets, 6 most popular radio stations, 11 highest ranked TV stations and 10 most popular news websites.
MOM research came to the conclusion that the print media market and the online news sector are highly concentrated. The TV and radio markets have a medium concentration level. (See Context Economy and Media Market, Indicators 1and 2)
