Unoodor

Unoodor is a daily newspaper with a circulation of 7000 copies per issue, thus ranked among the top 5 newspapers. A group of editorial staff of the former state run newspaper “Ardyn Erkh” separated in September 1996 from the newsroom to establish a new paper named Unoodor. After its first issue the newspaper received a congratulation message from the President. (Document ID 12) The founder of the newspaper was Ts. Baldorj. He was the former editor-in-chief of Ardyn Erkh and is considered not only a famous journalist but a Meritorious for Mongolian Culture. His daughter B.Nandintushig is currently the editor-in-chief of Unoodor. Published 6 times a week with 16-32 pages in broadsheet format Unoodor also has an online subscription version and its own printing house. The website of the newspaper can be visited at www.unuudur.mn. The newspaper claims to be politically independent. However, media observers consider the former President N.Bagabandi (Mongolian People’s Party MPP) to have affiliated interests with the company. The newspapers motto is: Building the future today more than yesterday. The editor-in-chief Ts. Baldorj died in December 2007 due to heart failure. In 2008 his family and close friends set up the Baldorj Foundation that aims to promote excellence in journalism. The Baldorj annual awards promote high professionalism in journalism and contribute to strengthening quality reporting, according to media experts. Unoodor is owned by Mongol News LLC, which also owns the English language weekly newspaper “UB Post” (not MOM top media) and the MN25 TV station (Media ID 3071). Mongol News LLC was the first company in Mongolia to own multiple media outlets. The company did not provide information on advertisement revenues.
