Shine Mongol Radio 101.7
The radio FM 101, 7 was first established by journalist and poet U. Bulgan. The radio operated under the name Terguulegch FM 101, 7 until 2012. According to the Press Institute’s audience surveys this radio was regularly ranked first on the list of top radios in the years 2003 – 2010. The radio distinguished itself from other FM stations through its particular focus on capital city news. In 2011 Bulgan transferred the radio to E. Batzorigt, who renamed it “Shine Mongol radio”. The newly named radio started broadcasting 112 hours per week, covering the entire territory of Mongolia. Among others, the radio has now re-transmission stations in Darkhan, Erdenet, Ulgii soum of Bayan-Ulgii province, Ulaangom soum of Uvs province, Jargalant soum of Khovd province, Ysonbulag soum of GobiAltai province, Uliastai soum of Zavkhan province, Bayankhongor soum of Bayankhongor province, Erdenebulgan soum of Arkhangai province, Arvaikheer soum of Uvurkhangai province and Murun city of Khuvsgul province and Selenge province. There is anecdotal evidence that the member of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) and MP O. Sodbileg invested into the radio to expand its reach through nationwide re-transmission facilities. Even though the 2016 income statement of MP’s states that O. Sodbileg is the sole owner of the Ajigana Mongol Media LLC, Shine Mongol Radio was not mentioned anywhere. According to media experts, Ajigana Mongolmedia LLC operates production studios, rather than media outlets. Shine Mongol Dolgion 101. 7 radio is owned by the Shine Mongol Radio Dolgion company, which also owns the news website Sainuu.mn which is not among MOM top media.
